‘Stop-motion, studio scene (5)’, 2025, 80 x 120 cm, oil on linen

The stop-motion series captures the day-to-day routine of an artist in the studio. The series is autobiographic, using a scale model of my own workspace. I created a humanoid puppet with mechanical and ape-like features, reflecting the alienation that can arise from prolonged solitary work. Spending entire days within four walls, one gradually becomes estranged from normal social interaction. The painting explores a theme of loneliness in working life—a feeling that became especially acute during the Covid period for those working from home.
